I found you though Ben’s blog – and am so glad I did! My husband suffers from essential tremors – most effected when stress/ adrenaline kick in. Dr.’s put him on 20 of propanypol (sp?). What alternatives are there to this???? What can we do????
Stress is a common trigger to make essential tremors worse. Relaxation techniques like yoga, meditation, energy work may prove useful. As with any neurologic difficulty, the B vitamins (B6, B12, folic acid, B1) need to be at high levels, as do the essential fatty acids (including omega-6). Energy work like acupuncture, Jin Shin Jyutsu or craniosacral may prove useful, separate from the potential relaxation and stress reduction it helps with. Avoid soda pop, especially diet soda pop. Aspartame and caffeine are neurotoxins.
